Are you an avid reader who'd like to get together with other women regularly to discuss books over some fine wine? The aim of this group is to expand our thoughts and perceptions through great discussions about books. We all bring our own experiences, culture, and filters into the perception and understanding of literature, and hopefully these discussions will all enrich us. We'll choose serious fictional and non-fictional books that are fairly recent releases (within the last 20 years for the m …
These are the voyages of the Western Suburban Science-Fiction Book Club...
Our continuing mission: to seek out the most compelling, discussion-provokin
g science-fiction (and occasionally, fantasy) and gather together to chat about them over dinner. It's a pretty good mission.
Reading sci-fi suggests certain nerdish... leanings, but don't be afraid: our group is all-inclusive. Yes, I'm sure a few of us qualify as geeks, but we're all socially well-adjusted and reasonably freshly showered too. Our …
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx...and we're running with it. The first of every month, TED and TEDx enthusiasts from around Chicagoland come together at the BlackFinn American Saloon in Naperville to discuss TED talks, events, and ideas. We also eat, drink, and have fun. Everyone is welcome!
We're a book discussion group for people in their 20s and 30s. We meet the third Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at Bartlett Public Library in Bartlett, IL. The discussion is led by one of our Adult & Teen Services Librarians. The books are available one month prior to each discussion at the reference desk.
Spirit Rocks! Our group explores various New Thought teachings with the intent of moving from simply understanding spiritual principles to putting those principles into practice. Our regular weekly meeting (Wednesdays) is a discussion and exploration of A Course in Miracles with teacher Christian Lea. The Spirituality Discussion Group in Naperville does not subscribe to any one particular belief system, understanding that there are many paths and we each follow our own as Spirit expresses and ex …

There are a few other book clubs out there, but not many in the NW corner of the city. I struggled to find one that was just for women and had spots available at their upcoming events. So, I started my own group. I'm also hoping to expand beyond the monthly book discussions. It would be great to meet other women that are interested in dinners, wine tasting, etc. in the city or in the surrounding suburbs. I'm in my mid-30's so I titled the group 30s (ish). If you're age is above or below that …

I love to read and would love to belong to a book club. I live in Hyde Park and would like to form a group with people that live in the same general area. We could get together once a month (or every other month) to discuss a chosen book and enjoy each other's company. I'm in my 50's, but it would be great to have members of various ages join the club.

Angry Black Women Poem By L. Aaron As much as I hate to say it and add fuel to the flames that singes away at the souls of a race of beautiful women. I must confess that I am an angry black woman. She and I are one in the same and yet one of many. I accept this title with acknowledgement and realization that it does not define me and the essence of my being. It is not the single most relevant characteristic of who I am as a woman of African decent. It is however an identifying emotion of my lif …
